Thanks, you guys. I feel a lot better about being home for two years and just cashing the disability checks. I do not miss dealing with stupid-ass people.

You are living the dream of many Max. And you seem by far a beter and more productive person than most people I know here.

Carry on!

On the black letters in nigth, maybe they were ligth up? A while ago I was playing with peter and a flashligth and the contrast with black things on a white wall was better under directed light than other white things.

Had a not-that-bad shift at work today. It was a morning shift so I'm still really sleepy but we made do, despite having no stock to put away so we just sort of tidied up. It's somehow super busy at my workplace despite the week-long heatwave...

It's not quite how the Fennoswedish midsummer goes, however: the pole should've been on fire for that.

This is because the Finnish tradition is to light a bonfire: combining it with the Swedish tradition to raise a pole is only natural. Sadly, due to forest fire warnings, very few bonfires were lit this year. They weren't even allowed to build one on a rock surrounded by open sea in every direction for over a hundred meters.

there is something weirdly satisfying about putting on a dress and having random men flash you hand signs, like, "thumbs up, very good, you're doing great"

I don't like doing this most of the time, because the flip side to that is also random men asking my male friends "how much I cost" or talking loudly about how bad they wanna be fucked, (and the other flip side to this, namely people assuming when I say that I'm a teacher, I probably mean yoga or elementary school) but sometimes, sometimes, you just want to spend two minutes doing your hair and having the world be like "Grade A, yes, I Am So Delighted To See A Female On The Sidewalk"

don't call women females

I’m a woman and don’t mind being called a female, I’m ok with being called a woman or being called a female, both statements are synonyms of each other anyway, like person and human in most cases, though people seem to not like being called humans in person for some reason, I don’t mind it, but others do, so I still call humans people when talking to them...in my head I think of humans as humans/people, as usually when someone says person they mean human, well this got off track kinda quick, my point is person has many different meanings, not all of them referring to humans, human is a member of the genus Homo, of which the only surviving species is Homo sapien, meanwhile person can apply to an individual, irrespective of species, and can apply to corporations as well as individuals...

Sorry for the ramble Vector, can I ask why some women don’t like to be called a female? Why some men don’t like to be called males?

You have to clarify that you mean a human female, that way it's not offensive, just scientific.

...Seriously though I sometimes wonder about that myself. Mainly because I grew up around a lot of female family members who would happily refer to people as "males" and "females". I just woke up so I'm probably not explaining this very well, but I don't think anything bad was meant by it?

It's as weird as call someone human, accurate but weird.

I don't know anyone that call any female, well, female or human female.

For me, I call people mostly by their last name with a sir or madam before if they are noticeable older than me or in a formal environment like work. Just by first name people that I'm relatively closer or people that ask to be called like that.

EDIT: Also I don't know why people would say or scream unappropriated things to woman on the street. I have never understood why some men do that? Clearly it wont attract their attention and if it does*, it's the kind of partner you are really looking for? I'm too guilty of it in my youth, however being raised to respect woman in general the worst thing I did say was along the lines of "you are really beautiful, have a nice day".

*which is next to impossible unless you are a hollywood handsome star level at the side of a million dollars car and even then it would not work for all woman.

Usually because the noun form, as in "I get along well with females," has a historic connotation of being the way you refer to livestock and not to people. Note that it is often acceptable to refer to women this way but not as acceptable/typical to talk about men this way: e.g. someone says "hello lads and females," an actual English sentence I heard a native speaker say recently; but "hello males and females" or "hello males and ladies" or "hello males and girls" sound much more strange.

There are always exceptions to this. Everyone is a little bit different; I had an autistic friend growing up who called all living beings "males" or "females" rather than "men" or "women," and it doesn't bother me at all that she did so. However, I made that note because I didn't want people to think I endorse a tendency that is often considered broadly objectionable.

I have never heard anyone speak those ways. Maybe it's a local thing?

I've also never met anyone who didn't care for males/females.
