No, they don't exist in normal biomes period, and they're rarer in evil biomes now. I've been traveling alone unless I'm hunting megabeasts because companions just steal kills on normal creatures.

Unsure as I literally didn't see any since the new version came out. They were a bad feature anyways... they should only crop up in highly-evil worlds when mythgen comes out, and put under the rug until it does.

They weren’t that bad, once you got a bit of training and if you managed to avoid fighting more than one at once, they were quite squishy.

You just had to bother people at night until then.

It did make the game a bit more exciting, and taught you to value companions.

You could just swat them with leaves though. Extremely fragile, fast creatures.

Never like them at all, and were one of the reasons I barely play adventure mode.

Boogeys were great if you had 4 or 5 skill in dodge and attack.  I even started playing around with triggers, such as them spawning or dying at rivers.

Water didnt hurt them, but they would all despawn if you 'entered' a river tile . . . though it was finicky as hell.

Other things like testing the effects of fire/campfire on them and testing how dangerous horns were happened, and I even once was blinded by boogeymen, giving inspiration to certain Let's Plays were a blind peasant explores the world.


P:  though I wholeheartedly agree that they sucked some fun out of adventurer mode unless you took special precautions.

When I first met them, after weeks into my first moderately successful adventurer since I took precautions upon reading about them, I managed to bisect all of them ina single strike as they approached, one by one.

So I thought: "These things are mere annoyances."

And now I know why I fear the night.

My 480GB SSD just arrived. Now I just have to install it into my laptop.
