Oh, I actually *DID* get "Night shift" (the chucklefuck kind), for christmas and christmas eve both.  (this is because doddering old codgers do not decide to take a break from their condition regardless of the time of year-- and all my female co-workers with "adorable children" (gag) could not bear to be without them for the holiday.)

I am just *NOW* getting an actual double day weekend.

Wind Through the Keyhole
Wait what? There is something else related to the Dark Tower?

Yeah, I got back from nightshift as well! And that we worked Christmas eve and Christmas is something we have in common Wierd. I got stuck with it, if only because I don't celebrate, I don't mind the added pay, and I never minded getting chosen by default to do it. I'd say it keeps me slightly happier, rather than doing nothing and feeling sad for myself on Christmas, I'm doing work at the very least.

A little late, but for Christmas I got Night Shift and the entire Dark Tower series, including Wind Through the Keyhole, which I had not read.  :)

All things serve the Beam.

I read an incomplete novel by C.S. Lewis called The Dark Tower. The story ends right as it was getting real interesting, so frustrating!

Maybe someday he'll get around to finish it.

Who's ready for some literal necromancy, and that's both literal and metaphorical.

I'm curious as to how a tank would evolve. Would it climb out of the primordial ooze wiggling it's track-nubs, feeding on smaller jeeps before crawling onto the shore having evolved proper treds?

No.

A thing is both literally and metaphorically at the same time, when it is a metaphor that has been written down.

No, Literal works just fine.

Quote
lit·er·al
/ˈlidərəl,ˈlitrəl/
Learn to pronounce
adjective
adjective: literal; adjective: literal-minded

    1.
taking words in their usual or most basic sense without metaphor or allegory.
"dreadful in its literal sense, full of dread"
        free from exaggeration or distortion.
"you shouldn't take this as a literal record of events"

    2.
(of a translation) representing the exact words of the original text.

When the metaphor is written down, it becomes something that can be literal. (per definition 2)

I was being snarky pun guy. You see, literary and literal sound similar to each other, and also we're talking about books.

Feel free to groan and punch me in your mind, I can take it.

So if we wrote here that we had punched you in our mind, would it be a literal or metaphorical punch?

This is a meta rabbit hole from which there is no return. And the answer is probably the second one.
