Yeah, they gave up on GFWL for a while before doing basically the same thing again but this time with Windows 10's app store. And it's tied in with "xbox live for windows" or something dumb like that. Their store is still bad.
This is why I'm glad that Valve stumbled into their online games storefront monopoly and not something like Microsoft. Sure, Valve are kinda clueless sometimes, but it could have been much worse.

One upside to the windows store thing is that they started releasing games on PC and xbox rather than exclusively to xbox. The newer Gears of War, for example. Unfortunately you still have to deal with their app store to play those games.

Apparently that "retail course" I was bizarrely booked into is no longer a thing I need to start going to next week. Phew.

My baseline stress levels have decreased... somewhat.

There's a few games that won't run properly without it installed.
P. sure RE5 still needs it. Same with Lost Planet 2.

I think RE5 made the transition just fine, atleast I think so I remember doing a full playthrough again like last year. No GFWL.

RE5 doesn't need it but LP2 definitely still does, it's awful

Even if it's tainted by the knowledge my mood's gonna crash in the near future, I'm feeling good and I plan to enjoy it while I can.

Really wish I knew why my mood is swinging so much, though. I assume that it's that my brain chemistry's a bit fucked with the depression, but last time I was depressed it was just apathy and sadness with no sudden "My God I feel great!" moments at all.

It'd definitely be worth finding out if there's a pattern to those "hell yeah!" moments! And, also, downward spirals. Knowing that you are in a depressive state is half the battle. You'll still feel like shit but at least you'd know why.

I have acquired all 6 prime summons in FFXI.

It was very challenging. Basically they all have a method of 100% one-shotting you, and it's a solo fight. You have to strategize around that, and also remember that you are a summoner and therefore the farthest thing from a tank in the game. So you have to juggle doing all of the damage with Carbuncle (the tiniest and only summon you can bring), managing Carbuncle to hold aggro/control where the enemy is, and also avoiding the AoE instant death that will come with almost no warning at a variable point in the fight.

Some of them heal, some of them can make themselves temporarily immune to damage, some of them have damage auras when you hit them, status effects, etc.

Quite a feeling of accomplishment n doing it all myself.
