I don't actually know what duelyst is tbh.

My happy is I found a mod for Xenomorphs in fallout 4 that isn't completely shit. It's like 80% shit, but they did a fantastic job with the normal xenomorph model. It even does the brief 4 legged run then back to standing thing.

It's extremely early in development, but it is a start.

On one hand I actually could probably kill someone with a real rapier since I do fencing, on the other hand my girlfriend always tell me that actual swords are all around superior to rapiers so I might just opt for a broadsword and a shield and then whack someone repeatedly while having my shield up and hope they die.

From what I can gather, true martial-sword fighting is basically pretending you have a really big and sharp lever. It's all about getting all up in there and using as much sharp leverage as you can.

Basically if DnD were realistic, ALL melee fighting rules would be grappling rules.

Same principle, except now you have a longer lever. Longer lever wins, given equal skill. I'm sure the best fighter in the world with a punchdagger can probably take out a noob with a halberd, but that's beside the point.

Though things start getting a bit mixed up once you start using levers to launch levers which release levers which explosively propel tiny tiny little levers all over everything nearby.

And the advantage of the spear isn't just in having more leverage, it's in having a longer stick with an edge on the end than the other guy. If you pick the right angle, or do some feinting so that your enemy can't defend themself, you can win without even touching their weapon. Just using speed and reach to do them in before they do you in.
