I found one of my friends!

I'd been looking for them after talking to them a few times at the start of the semester. Now I know a few things about them that should help me find them (namely: where they hang out, and their classes), and they reciprocated my interest in catching up (they've been abroad for a year, so one imagines they have interesting stories, or at least stories).

I find it so hard to keep up with my friends, it's nice to break that habit every so often.

Sounds like my cat.

He's really very cute, and very affectionate. But sometimes he is just not in the mood to deal with people, or sometimes people just rub him (often literally) the wrong way. He's quite persnickety. And when he's had enough of you, he'll kindly let you know by putting his paw on you, and extending his claws enough to prick you (but no further), or perhaps gently nipping your hand. And if you don't get the message, he'll follow up by less gently biting into your hand, and using his claws to hold your arm in place to submit to the biting. (He's never caused injury this way though; he seems to have a thorough understanding of the line between playful and dangerous, and is firmly committed to only occasionally poking the line. The only exception is my father, who actively hated the cat, and led the cat to return the favor).

So yes: cute, but do not annoy the kitty.
