I'm in the southeast and I'm pretty sure chiles is the right way to spell it so suck it yankees.
For the sake of this argument Europeans and Australians also count as yankees.

This is the system here:


Chiles is anything long, relatively mild-ish on the Schoville scale, and typically vibrantly colored. This incluces Hatch and Ancho peppers.
Peppers can be appended to Chile but it means nothing there. It is more often used in conjunction with varietal, E.G. Serrano peppers or Jalapeno Peppers or Habanero or Scotch Bonnet peppers

Non-capsicums are referred to as Bell Peppers, unless it's a different non-capsicum, then it's referred to by name. I can't think of any peppers other than bells that are non-capsicums, but I'm sure someone else has something on that.

The system is nonsensical, but that's Murica. Just remember:

There's two kinds of countries, those that differentiate names for peppers and capsicums, and use metric, and countries that have been to the moon.


Fakeedit: I'm reasonably high on a couple chemicals for the first time in a long time, and it's pretty nice. Before anyone gets concerned, I did less roughly 1/4th the amount a doctor would recommend 3 times a day of each one, and I'm monitoring my BP and pulse quite religiously, in addition to drinking scads of water and keeps the phone with emergency services numbers nearby, including poison control. I'll be just fine, trust me.

Also there was a subadult rabbit in my garden, and I got some good pictures. And it let me pet it's likkle head for a minute, then got spooked again and bolted into the woods. It was AWESOME.

Just learned that one of my favourite doom bands is 2/3rds vegan (and the other guy is vegetarian)!
I had no idea! All I knew was that they drink a lot of coffee. Awesome!
The pizza photo they posted has made me kinda hungry, though...


Edit: from what I remember, rabbits are kinda terrifying. I saw a couple some years ago, don't think I dared touch them.
They just seemed so... simultaneously fragile and unpredictable.
