really, in retrospect, us adults need to come together and put an age limit on something awesome that doesn't have some kind of notable mitigating factor to it. Criminalize child usage of those bouncy rooms or ball pits or something. I'unno, maybe cotton candy or whatever. Then we'd have a milestone much more difficult to label death<something>.

besides that, there's a lot of benefits to independence besides those

besides that, i think we were talkin the US, which has alcohol age as separate from all of those for mostly dumb reasons (it's a dumbass half-measure, drinking at 21 is about as bad as drinking at 18 or any age before 25)

I'm gonna ignore that, thanks, I once barfed out something like 13k posts in a few months during a post count war, and have discarded accounts with several times that many in an effort to end my nasty habit of trying to pump up post counts.

I was raised NOT to consider alcohol a mark of adulthood, and that stuck with me and I was always responsible until I went through a very dark period in my life and started drinking to cope.

Somehow knowing it was silly did not make it healthier in retrospect.

I consider it a mark of adulthood when the cashier looks into your dead, weary eyes and determines that they don't need to ask you for ID, because all traces of youth long since died in your overworked and unyielding life. Either that, or it's clear from your selection of groceries that you're feeding your family and not buying a student food assortment of nachos and vodka.

I started playing Yakuza 0... more precisely, I'm playing the Mahjong minigame within Yakuza 0. I'm in chapter 2, and Mahjong is about >50% of my playtime so far. I only loosely understood the rules from anime like Akagi and The Legend of Koizumi, so I had to throw myself at it and pore over the manual until I grok'd in properly. It's quite addicting, I really like it.

Fortunately I don't drink, or people would be asking for my ID constantly. It is not at all amusing when 19-year-old youths think they are older than you and act accordingly.
