I redesigned and put together a neat little vice for the front of my little mini-workbench with two quick release bar clamps and some wood and it works great though I sometimes get this weird feeling like I should use plans and stuff but I guess when you dump all your skill points into jury rigging things you can just fake it?

Fake it till you break it, I guess?

Pulling the little metal tabs sticking out from the sides of the orange slider bits lets them slide freely back along the bar, or forwards, though you can also ratchet them with a brrr-rrrrttt-rrrrtt clicking forwards, the wooden piece in front can be snugged up against the workpiece and turning the little wooden handles clamps it as tight as you want.


Then you can just pop the quick release levers or loosen the screw handles a bit to remove or reposition what you're working on!

Probably gonna repurpose some leather scraps to line the inside faces of the vise for better traction later.

Thanks to the work Mephansteras gave me I was able to buy a lot, regrettably our fridge died on us recently and the repair took a huge chunk of the money I had. Still we were able to hoard enough for more than a month if we ration the food.
