The power is back on, after an outage that lasted all day!
Also I cooked a rad stir-fry for breakfast, and used the leftover rice to make some experimental fried rice cooked in sriracha (among other ingredients) that turned out pretty freakin' rad - so much so that I made more later on in the dark with some added veggies!


Feeling pretty zonked right now, though. Had to go to an appointment as well, plus I didn't get much sleep last night. Also my fat lip from headbutting that bloodthirsty car last night made me especially self-conscious, which in turn heightened my anxiety.
Oh well, I survived the day. Having no power was actually fun in some ways (though very frustrating overall): I sat in the sunlight by the loungeroom window and read for an hour or two.

It's increasingly common to keep people as part-time for a long time.  The main benefit is not having to pay benefits, I think, but lower wage is also normal.

But they dangle the carrot of full-time.  And FD earned it!  Congratulations!
It's basically a selection process for full-time, like payed internship, except nowadays they're happy to keep people in it indefinitely.  Why not?

Um, happy, I found a golf ball while walking.  I had a surprising amount of fun bouncing it along the pavement in my off-hand.  I sure wish I was able to use my phone while walking Pokemon GO, without the Plus accessory.  Which I did buy, but it became unreliable when I last switched phones.

I did have a lot of fun bouncing the golf ball though, it was some solid nostalgia and simple fun!  Good walk, too.

If you bring 1.000$ at current exchange you could get between Bs. 3.300.000.000 and Bs. 3.700.000.000. Consider that with around 150.000.000 you could get a 3 days / 2 nights (per person) with ALL included (all three meals which is already a luxury for most of us, and open bar), which mean that in theory you could be 40+ days in a place like this:

Of course that doesn't include air tickets and other expenses like cab fares or car rentals, or ransom money if you wonder too stray from the hotel or the mains streets.

I would recommend you to not rent a car and only use official cabs from the place you are staying and even if it means you have to wait or pay extra only employ those cabs and go only to the main parks, malls and attractions, again with those cabs or touristic packages from the hotel, you'll pay a lot more but your ass would be safer from "kidnapping-the-rich-gringo kind of situations". Either that or hiring me as a tour guide of sorts, I could drive for you and take care of you with the only conditions you fetch my wife, baby and me in your luggage back to the US.

Most small planes lack the range, I'm afraid; it's about 2500 km from Miami to the middle of Venezuela. I suppose you could use something like a King Air 200, which if I recall correctly charter for about $2000/hr (and could make the trip in 4-5 hours, possibly?), but you might have to fill a good bit of the interior space with additional fuel tanks and even then might be over MTOW*. There's also the question of where you want to try landing such a plane in Venezuela.

*Unless of course one could refuel at the pickup point somehow.

Fuel here is SUPPA cheap, at least most fuel. I guess plane fuel is both expensier and harder to provide, but given the state of corruption here I'm sure with enough money it could be provided. The landing would be harder I guess. Then the hardest would be the landing on USA and escaping the migration or explaining how we simply showed up there. Maybe if I fake a socialist aliens history History Channel would offer me a job and take care of the visa or something.

You mean tapirs? Yes, we still have them. In the zoo of my city there are some still. The don't require much special care so they are still alive unlike other animals that have died of starvation literally.
