Happy birthday, Iron!

I spent maybe three and a half hours just cleaning and thinking this afternoon. The cleaning is meditative, so I can do a sort of parallel mental spring clean as well. Thought through a lot of things, put some mental affairs straight. It really does feel like tidying up my mind - instead of having emotions out of place (or having forgotten why they're there...) and unfinished thoughts, it's now all neatly set out or at least I know why things are unfinished.

It feels refreshing.

If you're Greek and have just felt a great disturbance in the force, it's okay, I'm just making Spanakopita for the first time.

Uh I just ate a kebab, that's close enough right??

Also:
Just plugged my phone in, to give it a bit of battery in preparation for taking it to a phone repair place in the hopes of getting it fixed, and... it worked. The screen actually lit up in the usual way it does when charging from flat, and I'm like, "Hang on a minute wasn't the screen entirely broken a moment ago?"

So then I turned it on and sure enough, it is inexplicably working fine now. :o

My neighbour saw a swan waddling about on the pavement, unable to get past the iron railing fence to get back into the lake - or so he thought. Not wanting the swan to be picked off by foxes (this was an adolescent one, not a full sized adult), he chucked it back into the lake before calling the swan people.
The swan people told him in no short words he should've have done that, because the reason that swan was on the pavement was because the swans in the lake were gonna kill it. And sure enough, the ones in the lake were trying to kill it. Before long the neighbourhood's up with mops and brooms, with the adolescent swan trapped in a corner on an old staircase where they used to dock ships, caught between the two territorial swans and the humans. The territorial swans feared the humans, but wanted to kill the adolescent. The adolescent would swim away whenever the humans got closer, but would be forced back whenever it swum into open water into the naval blockade led by the territorial swans. It was a fine balance, but eventually three of us succeeded; one used a mop to nudge the swan closer, another to grab it from the lake, another to pick it up and over the railing and deposit it safely into a channel, disconnected from the lake.
Thus the swan is safe!

Hard to be an adolescent swan these days, what with everything tryin to kill ya. Just gonna have to try to make the best of life, on the other side of the tracks, in the channel by himself.

Someone let an alligator snapping turtle loose in a local lake, and it ate swans.

What, he just picked up a swan and chucked it? Brave (or foolish) guy.
For context, every couple years or so a swan usually does something stupid and gets its head stuck in a fence. Thus my neighbour actually got trained by swan protection people on how to pick them up to fix problems without having to call them or the fire brigade. Turns out you tuck them under your arm and hold their neck gently but firmly with your free hand. If it's a full-grown adult swan... Good luck

I just baked a frozen one from the grocery store. Pretty good.

I made an Ulster Fry!
So if you're an Ulsterman and felt a disturbance in the force, it was either me or Theresa May trying to set the EU border in the Irish sea.

Personally, I find they go very well with Welshmen. A bit of Pict is a rare treat, but goes well as a side-dish if you can find it.
