Yeah, assembly programming itself isn't terribly difficult to get started with; it's more that it's hard to find a real-world use for it and all the surrounding tools stuff to actually do it. Zachtronics did a good job of the latter with TIS-100, creating sort of a first-attempt basis for the Shenzhen I/O programming model. But Shenzhen I/O really completes it with all the cute little applications with stories and their own little animations.

It's like the fun 10% of learning programming without the awful 90% that consists of 'wondering which skeevy lookin program to download' followed by 'wondering where to type the code and which button to push to run it.' Yet it still manages to be pretty much all there, too. Aside from being bougie af in terms of number of instructions you can use and number of registers(16 of them! overthrow the aristocracy!), a real pc is really all the same ideas.

That's weird man, because I just picked up a refurb PS3 on wednesday, it's the first time I've owned an actual console. I got a 2nd hand copy of GTA-V to play on it.

TIS100 is neato. It actually gave me some experience with assembly language which is proving (slightly) useful with the college class I'm taking on assembly language and computer architecture.
