If that was really dwarf fortress the combat log would say you were knocked out but wouldn't mention the death thing

Really? Combat log always said you get struck down like, lots of versions ago.

Reminds me of the DF combat log I did of the crucifixion a long time ago...

I think as far back as when DF was 2D, it would always mention creatures getting struck down. Or bleeding to death. Or drowning. Whatever.

It stopped saying that a few versions ago. It's merely display weirdness, mind, not indicative of any underlying change in the simulation.

...I don't know what you guys are going on about. It still says "x has been struck down". I just checked in 43.05's object testing arena.

The only difference is that a thrown item says "has been shot and killed", but "struck down" is still a part of the combat logs.

maybe that was legends, all I know is when I read some sort of combat thing (on 43.5) they will have their heads ripped off and such and it's like that dude is knocked out

Yes, there was a whole kerfuffle about that here. Rest assured it's a display weirdness that doesn't happen always, probably a bug.
