Eh, a good game is a good game, the makers aren't really important.

The game might be good, but giving the company your money has a direct impact on their finances and ability to do things you may or may not agree with.

Though that really only has any effect if it's an organized boycott. Disorganized "eh, I won't buy from them any more" won't really change much of anything.

Last July 29, I got in touch with someone suggested by one of our psychometrician speakers as someone who can help me. On that day, it was raining hard alongside heavy wind, and the umbrella I used was pretty much a real shield against both heavy raindrops and really wet roads; it was still great because a 1.5 hour talk with him really got my hopes up in the future, especially on the LGBT side of our locality and any implications it has. Also the matter that he's studying his masters in the place I'm currently trying to enroll in, and having his thesis on the same theme, was a good matter to discuss and pour over. This ended with the hopes of me being connected to more people with similar experiences that we can share in, in the future, and I felt a lot better over this because hooray for more knowledge \o/

I personally don't think voting with your wallet is something that works in these days and age. You're not going to change much by negative reinforcement unless you actually go out and campaign for better corporate ethics.

Yeah. That's what I mentioned organized vs. disorganized boycotts. :P

I don't think organized boycotts are something that is possible at a large scale and at a long enough timespan to affect anything. I'm not saying that it's futile and you might as well support questionable ethics, but even complaining about it and petitioning against it would accomplish more than not buying their stuffs. Corporate competition is a myth perpetuated by the rich to fool the poor into buying marked up, 'ethical' products that end up being owned by the less ethical element anyways. The only way to cut off the beast's head is to actually campaign to outlaw awful shit from being done.

5 years and almost two weeks ago (12 days, in fact) I first released Fortbent.

It's a bit sad that I didn't even notice and a bit WTF that I didn't notice despite restarting development 4 days later, but it's mostly happy.

Well, the problem is that some of those wholesome game developers I'd like to support happen to be owned by nasty publishers...

Or, like in the case of Paradox, it's that the wholesome developer you support is becoming decidedly less and less wholesome as time goes on.

Being an extreme Paradox fanboy who has followed them since before they were Paradox  (in fact two of the very first games I owned were made by proto-Paradox) that pains me to say, but still.

I presume the people at paradox who are making questionable business choices are not the same people as those making the game. It's a similar conundrum, except in this case developer and publisher go by the same name.

Dude, thrift stores are the best. I got a PS2 for like $2 last time I went to one.

Uhh, I hope this doesn't become like with the Starbound debacle. i.e. "If you haven't uninstalled your Skyrim yet you're part of the problem"
