Yoink's ears are fucked? Is it the music addiction? They told you it had side-effects man.

Nah, Yoink's ears (especially one of them) have been fucked since he was a  wee little laddie, thanks to an injury which Yoink is just glad left his precious, brilliant brain-meats unharmed. Years of turning things up to compensate for the bad ear (as well as the much, much later music addiction) certainly didn't help, but his hearing was poor-yet-stable for years until a few months ago.

Yoink's main theories as to what caused this recent worsening are damage caused by a faulty pair of cheap $10 earphones (o, if he could but travel back in time to reign in his cheapskate tendencies! Alas!), severe congestion of his sinuses (which would, hopefully, be temporary or treatable) or, probably most unlikely, eating too many wasabi peas in one go.
That one's mostly kept around as a scapegoat, that Yoink uses to calm himself down when the possibility of having done permanent damage to his ears threatens to overwhelm him with panic and despair.

Hearing test this morning yielded some pleasantly surprising results: turns out my hearing is pretty much the same as it was last time I had it tested - four or five years ago! The specialist offered congestion as a possible explanation for the troubles I'd been having recently.

Still not sure why my ears have been getting so fatigued lately, but oh well. Looks like I'll be getting some snazzy new hearing aids to replace the old ones I never used, anyway - this time in a groovy violet colour instead of the rad light green I chose last time, to change things up a bit.


Borrowed a heap of library books to celebrate this relieving knowledge.
Also, getting the moulds cast of the insides of my ears was fun, as always.

Still an ongoing struggle to find a position with my Master's. In the meantime, my BA in Liberal Arts attracted an employer offering decent pay, potential for advancement, and a full benefits package.
