Blizzard are remastering Starcraft and Brood War, adding new content, bugfixes + updating them for modern systems, and making them free.
... okay, on one hand, awesome. On the other hand... is there any news regarding previous custom map/mod compatibility? Because if that's going to see new people getting in on a LotR map or five suddenly sounds rather appealing. I miss those things, and none of the later crafts really seemed to manage to capture the experience, though there definitely was attempts.

Also be interesting to see if the old ranma campaign whatsit still works on it. Ruddy thing had more missions than the base campaign.

100% compatible, as far as I know. To the extent that you can play multiplayer between remastered and non-remastered, and replays from the non-remastered version will work in the remastered one.

The only change at all in terms of gameplay is widescreen users getting slightly more map visible.

I didn't start transitioning until halfway through 21. Lots of people come out later in life, whether it be gay or bi or trans or whatever else.

'Mom, Dad, I'm... straight.'

Heh, I reckon one could argue that as long as we treat homo-, hetero-, bi-, and miscellaneous-sexuality as distinct things, heterosexuality will remain the default and so the practice of coming out, along with all its problems, will remain necessary. If we culturally switched to something like the Roman system, where there was just 'stuff I like to do', 'stuff you like to do', 'stuff Gaius likes to do', etc etc, we could get rid of  the whole concept, because there'd be nothing to come out about.

Hmm.. then that's a stigma issue for me. If a kid comes out after puberty, that's because puberty. Nothing like a hormone cocktail for shaking the blanket on what turns a person's dial.
If someone comes out later in life then to me it kinda smacks of either cultural repression or boredom, neither of which is acceptable to me for different reasons.

i didn't know i was bi until i was a good way into 21, pretty sure
If my kid is anything like me they'll probably just go 'I'm bi' and then twenty years later I'll be like 'wait why have I only ever seen you bring dudes home?'

A cup of sweet coffee/chocolate is a surprisingly good mood lifter.

I recently discovered the joys of espresso bombing a cup of hot chocolate. Perfect combination of sweet, bitter, and nutritious.

I wonder if bombing a cup of chocolate milk would have a similar synergy.

Yep, that's more-or-less what the vending machine here sells. It has a bunch of espresso plus x drinks, one of which is espresso, hot chocolate, and a bit of milk. It's actually really good coffee for the price and the fact that it comes from a vending machine. Better than coffee from one of the food shops on campus, and cheaper.

Almost certainly. Coffee and chocolate are just a naturally excellent pair.

You don't make hot chocolate with milk to begin with?  :o

All y'all other bay12ers coming out brings a tear to my eye. I left for a while, and I come back to find little rainbow flowers sprouting up everywhere.
I didn't start transitioning until halfway through 21. Lots of people come out later in life, whether it be gay or bi or trans or whatever else.

Pretty sure this is one of the queerest communities on the game/nerd culture internet, and... I kinda have no idea why? But yeah, I didn't figure my gender situation out until my mid 20s. Maybe with more exposure and a more supportive environment it'd have been different? It seems a lot of parts of the world are supporting trans kids in schools and so on these days, but I hope it keeps getting easier for younger folks.

I'm all for the Post-Gender world when people can just be people, unfettered by arbitrarily assigned roles based on what the hospital assumes of their reproductive abilities. Because that's pretty silly when you step back and think about it. And I'm all for transhumanism and body modification stuff too. But we still gotta interact with folks who don't question things so much, or who still maintain certain assumptions about gender and sex and such. And we still have to buy clothes and use facilities and products that are designed based on gender roles too. It's pretty deep-rooted in a lot of modern culture, and it's probably gonna be a while before any major shakeups there. So in the meantime, folks just gotta queer it up and mess around with those boundaries a bit, until people start to see their arbitrariness, I suppose? In which case, I'm happy to oblige!

One day I must have a solifuge child, so when the creature tells me they're gay, I can go: "HOW DARE YOU... to not tell me anything before now, come here and lemme give you a hug".

Then I'll suplex them through table with my unbound love.

Okay Undyne. :3

I knew since I was 17, but waited to properly come out and start transitioning until I was financially independent and far away from my home town, in a place where I'd be much less likely to be murdered. But this is the happy thread, so I'll just say I'm glad it all worked out.

I acknowledged my own bisexuality when i was like 22 or 23, after realizing that i had no other excuse for the surprisingly well balanced V/D ratio in my lewd folder. As another guy on the intertoobs put it, i guess i'm just greedy. :v

Also, my old Nintendo 64 still works after QUITE A FEW YEARS, even though the video cable is kinda unstable. Played some Super Mario 64, was naic. I can feel that i'll need to slowly get used to the thumbstick, though. :P

Ever since I've discovered it a couple of months ago, I've been drinking dirty chai regularily. Indian chai mixed with espresso (and milk). It's quite invigourating.
