Pretty fun discussion in my college group VK thread-thingy (it's basically a social network chat so that our group can coordinate stuff, with occasional flood constructive discussion).

...Perhaps I should interact with my groupmates more. I mean, it's not even that I don't like them. I just kinda... keep to myself.

My happy today was the pleasant feeling of washing dry rice in a pot of warm water. Something about it is just nice!

Oooo, looking good there, Japa. You Marching Cubes, or do you have some other technique for making those snazzy rounded tile-meshes? Also, How are you planning to handle UVs assignment or textures?

I believe the mesh is generated in pieces centered on grid corners. Would explain his previous questions in the coder thread.

Yup, which is exactly marching squares, actually.

I opted for marching squares instead of matching cubes because it fits better.

Terrain will use a splat texture, so I can blend smoothly between different textures, but I haven't decided how constructions will work yet

whoa, happy thread hit page two

eyes up for the four horsemen

Anywho, there's a particular delight once experiences upon solving a puzzle in TIS-100, or Assembly Programming Simulator. I mean, I'm not very far in it, I'm only halfway through the second row of four or five rows of puzzles and I'm getting my brain kicked around all over the place. It makes me feel pretty stupid when a little bit of foresight and about thirty lines of code solves it for you, but I'd swear the mental acrobatics is good for me.

I'm a little afraid for what the later puzzles are going to look like and if I'm really just a numskull about assembly (I want to get better real bad so I can apply it to debugging/decompiling concepts for something like infosec/malware analysis), but it's not like anyone I talk to plays this one. There's no other laymen around to compare notes with!
Yayyyy another Zachtronics fan
There's dozens of us! Dozens!
I haven't tried TIS-100 yet, but I've been playing around with their newer title SHENZHEN I/O. From what I can see, it's very much like TIS-100, but with an added layer of very basic electrical design. I can definitely recommend it, I feel like I've gotten better at assembly using it (even though it makes my brain hurt).

E: it's like, once it made me deathly upset about an extra yuan that I had to spend on a part. I was all "at the production rate we're gonna have, this is gonna set the company profits back by a lot, I feel like this is a failure on my part as an engineer, my boss will be upset at me very Chinesely, I gotta redo this". And then I spent three hours redoing it. Those are imaginary yuans. I don't know how much a yuan even is. Why did it bother me so much?

This is late in that I knew only about it now compared to the one year before it was uploaded but I love seeing situations when communication happens using non-verbal languages; inspires me a lot to completely master sign language to be able to diversify my communication skills.

Okay this is at least the third time I've mentioned Supernatural, but it's still going great.  Best show I've seen since Jessica Jones (mmm, Pathos).
Specifically though, S6:E4:  Weekend at Bobby's.  It's great to see Bobby getting some time, with the brothers doing their thing offscreen.

And more Crowley is ALWAYS good in my book

Not been doing the best but update on slightly happy stuff.

-Been getting better scores on exams recently.
-Might be able to pass a few classes I was failing earlier this year.
-Started learning Russian which is a nice distraction.
-Starting to make progress on redoing some forum games which is also another nice distraction.
