I just realized something. If the happiness that one person receives from another happy is a*h (where 0<a<1 and h is the original happiness), then if 1/a people all share their happies with one another, a supercritical happy reaction will occur.

Yay!~ (the ~ is distilled cute)

But hearing something the first time is different than hearing it the second time. So the actual happiness someone gets is a*h/n where n is the number of times they have heard it. So for a given set H consisting of n people with happinesses h₁,...,h_n with coefficients of happiness a₁,...,a_n, the net happiness per person if they all share their happies and other people's happies with each other (but only once), you get a finite sum:

Define S = (a₁h₁+...+a_nh_n). Then the net happiness is the sum 1S + 1/2S + 1/3S + ... + 1/NS = (1+1/2+...+1/N)S. Thus, the happiness with each additional person is O(nlogn).

So in the amount of happiness added increases with each person but it never goes critical.
