HOL-LEE shiiit. Best game of the series so far, no question at all. What a wild ride.

Oh hey, someone else watches T90.

Yeah, TheViper and Mr. Yo are pretty cleanly top five, I'd say.
Oh hey, what a coincidence that I've watched a few videos (I especially liked that Forest Nothing one) from that T90 person just a few days ago! It's weird how popular AoE 2 still is, compared to many other games I've played in my childhood, but it's pretty rad ;)
AoEII holds up pretty damn well, that's the main reason I'd say. Plenty of depth and room for skill differences, to a greater degree than a lot of more modern RTSes. In particular the four-resource economy and attached bobs (relic gold, market prices, trade carts/cogs, different values and gather speeds on food sources &c.) make the eco and macro play a lot more involved than most, since a lot of games are basically just 1-2 resources +maybe housing. No other RTS I can think of where stealing a small chunk of early fast resources is possible and meaningful in the way that a boar/sheep steal or deer denial is.

I had that too a couple of days ago.
Best thing to do, is to hunker down and wait it out.

I think this qualifies as bullying.

What's that game? Looks like HoMM, but I've played all the games and none of them are like that so I am quite intrigued.
It's Eador: Genesis.
Yeah, it is that. One of the more difficult games I've tried to play - I still have no idea how to win anywhere past the first map on the lowest level of difficulty - and there are like 12 or something.

Also one of the longest! Took me like 4+ hours just to complete that first map. And rumours say that to complete the campaign, you need to win like 70 maps... and each of them is more difficult than the previous ones...

it's a really fucking hard game, is what I am trying to say.

P.S.: That first map that took me 4+ hours to complete? It's a fucking tutorial. Yes, really.

... no offense intended. But, wow. You suck :V

As for each map being more difficult than the last, that's pretty arguable. They do get larger, and the AI's difficulty increases occasionally, but you also get more tools added to your toolbox and larger maps actually tend to be easier than smaller ones, since you've got a lot more locations to access and land to conquer (i.e. XP and loot) before you run into an enemy Lord.

The several dozen map thing for the campaign is accurate, though.

Eador's not really that difficult, though, generally. Particularly once you suss out the basics of getting by in combat. Just somewhat tedious, usually in a kinda' good way.

E: Or I guess you could have accidentally set the difficulty to one of the higher ones. Those are still doable, but it takes more time and is notably easier to get your shit pushed in if you make a misstep.

Survived my first drive on my own, with only one (maybe two) glaring errors.

Now I have to do it again the other way, which will be problematical since I'm not entirely certain where the turn off is for my destination, and it's a bit of an awkward turn as the space in the median doesn't line up with the driveway into the parking lot...
