If we can never create a being that is truly undeniably 100% impartial, does that mean we shouldn't try?

Surely we can get close. It may never be perfect, but do we NEED perfection? It seems a bit pessimistic to declare it impossible and give up before we even start.

I also think there is likely a point where people will prefer a less impartial being to a more impartial one.

What if the ultimate intelligence we created, decided that humans are destructive and a nuisance, and thus they should be eradicated. I'd prefer a being that favors people and their existence that a completely impartial one.

The only thing that can appreciate a completely impartial creature is another completely impartial creature.  Imagine them breeding.

An impartial being would either care about absolutely nothing ( reducing everything's importance to zero=equality? ) or everything.  So for an impartial being to exist without immediately going insane at the imbalanced nature of physical existence, it would need both omniscience and omnipotence, to understand EVERYTHING and be able to affect EVERYTHING, right? 

Isn't that like, 2/3rds of God?

Don't take it as wise words though.

Moral Orel was a satire about Christian moral lessons. The town they lived in was called "Moralton" and the town next door was called "Sinsville" where everyone was Catholic.

No, that's actually a pretty solid interpretation of the Bible. God is good because he gets to say what's good and what isn't.

Omnibenevolence is also pretty hard to justify from the Bible, what with all the "destroy them all, salt the earth, leave nothing behind".

Fun. While I understand '-ton' means 'town' in this case, in Finnish it would be a negatory suffix. 'Moraaliton' means 'immoral'.

Yeah I've always been fascinated by the idea of universally justifiable ethics, regardless of one's background or time period.  What is the actual official position held by the Catholic Church regarding why God determines morals?  That He is all powerful, that He's the creator of existence, that He knows everything in advance? 

Before this gets construed as being off topic to the thread, actually thinking about stuff like this always brings a smile to my pseudo-intellectual face.
