Yay!

I just had a really nice day today. Made me appreciate life more.

Another one of these happened. It's weird, because I don't think I've felt happiness like this before. When nothing can get me down. It's pretty great.

Remember that feeling, then remember what got you there; it's gonna be a thing that'll get you going far past when you may not really feel like that.

This post made me happy.

Two and a half kittens appear mostly human-acclimated! If still somewhat confused by it. Still got one from this batch that's iffy and one that's entirely skittish, but I've also found the string we had laying around and luring them into petting range follows shortly. And acclimation/submission to the digits not long after that.

... only problem is keeping the other cats away from the string while doing so. Besides the kittens, there's also three (mostly) grown cats that hang around the same area that will run themselves dizzy trying to kill that string.

Next batch is still in closed eyes phase, but fortunately they're (very) close to the house and the mother cat is probably the friendliest out there, so it'll be pretty easy to get in on keeping them from being scared of people right from the start (which is best way, of course).

... then it's finding places for all of them to go, which will... probably be harder than getting them friendly. But still. Step one in feline submission to fingers, complete. Or two, I guess. Somewhere in that range.

Saw a gigantic spider hiding out inside my old broken down bbq, which I've identified as the ominously named dark fishing spider. Took some really nice pictures and let her be, but any bug bigger than a harvestman is a rare sight around here.

Seeing that post gave me a horrible sense of deja vu. I thought the forum broke again and everyone was doing the timewarp.

Man, today was a good cat day. Have managed to offload one of the kittens on some other poor bastard! Now it's their fuzzy little longhaired problem, fleas and all.

... will say it reacted remarkably well to being plucked out of its nap, sat on a couch for a few hours, and then drove off and handed over. Think it had been picked up maybe two or three times before today, never been inside, never in a car, etc., etc. Only meowed and hissed a little, and calmed down very quickly once given some proper attention. Have had kittens that age react a lot worse to a notable amount less, ahehehe. Bonus points to it, the selection process was "whichever one I caught first when I went outside", so it wasn't particularly more accustomed to humans than most of the rest of its litter.

Good stuff, now to do the same thing to all of its siblings :V
