If it's like any other back, it's got boxes and racking and a bathroom and a chair for the person you ask to go back there to look for your game to have a sit for five minutes and read a book while you wait for them to come back and tell you that nope not there.

What is it like, in the back of a Gamestop? I've always wondered.

Generally? It's very cramped, and shit is stacked floor to ceiling because GameStop rents closets and calls them stores. We have a "system room" back room, which is a separate room specifically for the expensive stuff, because our store is huge compared to most other GameStops (because rent is cheap in my little city.)  Each store has at least one extra rolling rack, empty system boxes for buying stuff, bags, shelves, rolls of tape and stickers, and everything else to run the store. There's a manager's desk that houses the daily paperwork and the literally hundreds of applications we get constantly. There is indeed a chair, at the desk, which is where we eat lunch and do paperwork and conference calls. The walls are the same as the walls in the store (slat wall) and every inch of them are covered in extra shelves holding extra stuff to run the store. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of hiding from people because 70% of my time is spent alone, and the majority of the rest of the time, I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off to put out constant customer fires.
