about the release of a new SMT in Japan (SMT 4 Final) last month.

but...didn't SMT4 already come out on 3ds a couple years ago? It even had little dlcs for fighting the usual holy dudes of lawful-holiness.

SMT4 Final is a sequel/sidestory (I'm not quite clear on which) to SMT 4.  Apparently the development keyword is "deicide," and the game protagonist is quickly recruited into a god-killing scheme after dying as the price of his resurrection by Dagda, who bears a grudge against YHWH.  It surprised me to learn about it, because I didn't even know it was being developed, much less that it was released.

It sounds more like a sequel to Nocturne's TDE more than smt4 if thats the keyword, but Dagda rings zero bells so maybe not.

IIRC it starts out as a sidestory to SMT IV, and then quickly turns into a sequel to it's neutral route and deals with the aftermath in which the polytheistic gods return and form an alliance as they aren't happy about YHWH pushing them out of their turf and screwing everyone over with the Law vs Chaos war.

Nah, what's got me all excited is that the city I live in, Melbourne, is hosting Australia's first ever Ginger Pride rally, with the RANGA (Redhead and Nearly-Ginger Association) and Buderim Ginger sponsoring the rally. They'll be handing out free alcoholic ginger beer, too. All proceeds go towards anti-bullying foundation "Bully Zero Charity".

There's a sugar tax coming in the UK, and watching the soft drinks companies flail desperately to stop it is proving amusing.

Is that just sugar sugar, or sweeteners in general? Because if the latter, you might wind up like America, with even shittier corn syrup instead.

New compy is assembled, no longer bluescreening randomly, and I've got all the connectors and doobats to connect multiple monitors! Huzzah! I've been quietly dreaming of having 2 screens worth of workspace since I worked a crappy data entry job, and it is everything I ever dreamed. I set it up so it recognizes their relative positions, so I can have the screens at different elevations. It's actually really fun to drag things between the bit where they overlap. ><;

Along with that, the Open-Source VR HDK 1.4 was finally released, and I've got one on backorder for the end of the month. Gonna program me some VRs, and maybe hack it into a thermal imaging device if I feel fancy and/or ambitious. Pretty excited!

The key escrow server works! Well, at least the key generation part. I haven't tested the other code paths yet, but this means I've worked out the communication protocol. And that authentication stage I whipped up seems to work out of the bin, which is deeply worrying. Something should've gone wrong. But it only needs to stand for 8 hours, so I can live with it.

You know that feeling when you start an assignment the day before it's due, work on it for several hours, get the process worked out and kinda get in the groove...  And realize you'll probably finish roughly around 6 in the morning?

and then magically someone happens to send an email clarifying that it's due tomorrow *evening*.  Which maybe you already sort of figured, but were intentionally not thinking about, because if you had thought about it you would have started tomorrow morning?

Okay maybe that's too specific.  I'm happy because after I stay up late working on this lengthy but not especially difficult assignment, I can finish it up tomorrow.  My foolishness has not quite cost me an all-nighter or great shame!
