What's the hubbub about Undertale anywho? From what I gather its a game whose mechanics promote pacifism and tumblr likes it a lot and in general it's garnered a hell of a lot of backlash from people who are sick of its fans and aren't really concerned with the game at all, which does not sound fair to the game itself

It doesn't really promote pacifism, just has a system for it. Besides that, Tumblr as usual sperged out in order to spout cancerous shit-tier memes all over the place, with a lot of crossover from Hoemstuck fans because the guy who makes Undertale also made music for that.
The demo was pretty good though so I assume the game is too.

It has a cast of fairly memorable characters that you get pretty attached to, and some pretty good feels as well. They're what really makes the game what it is, in my opinion. The gameplay is fairly standard for a 2D, with the combat itself is an interesting mix of "choose action" and bullet hell.

Amazing music, fun story, you can be a pacifist without the game hitting you over the head that killing is wrong every three steps and will recognize that self defense is a thing.

I think I'm with Bouchart on this one. I'm just so sick of hearing about it everywhere that I'm past caring whether it's good or not. I'll probably give it a look in the future when nobody cares about it, but probably not much sooner.
