Started playing the Exile mod for ArmA III. I think I've finally found the one for me:

+No fucking zombies
+ArmA III, so the UI is slightly less fucked
+Vehicle locking is simple and easy
+Construction is fast, easy, and can't be blown up; you don't even need locks on your doors when you can move a solid wall to block them when you leave. And bases/territory despawn if people go too long without paying protection money (i.e. playing on the server at all).
+Persistent currencies that aren't lost on death; as long as you don't get capped crossing open ground to a trader city you can sell all the loot you're carrying and not care as much if you die.
+Fairly high-frequency randomly-generated missions with groups of dirty aimbotting ArmA AI guarding loot.
+Large penalties for spawnkilling.

Still has the same-old same-old of every large city, loot site, mission zone, and choke point constantly being watched by a legion of Chewbaccas with high-powered rifles, but that's the nature of unstructured PVP in ArmA regardless of what you're playing.

Contemporary fantasy murder mystery novels turned contemporary fantasy whirlwind clusterfuck feels kill novels.

Warms up very slowly, but I would say it has the best character progression out of any other series I've ever read.
