New boots get! I have painstakingly laced them, too. Now they tie at the ankle and let me tighten them in all the right places and none of the wrong ones, and at the same time make no sense while showing just enough consistency (for instance, left and right boots are mirrored and the lace going in a particular direction is always on top when they cross) that it can't be chalked up to laziness. I hope to baffle at least one person who pays attention to shoes.

Should've ordered a size smaller, but it's close enough to be workable and the shenanigans I've pulled with the laces should keep it comfortable enough, especially once they're broken in.
