While trying to fix a crash problem, I discovered that Planescape Torment, Fallout, and a number of other sprite-based RPGs didn't originally have framerates of 10 or less FPS. That is caused by DirectDraw... somehow, I don't really understand it. Anyways, Planescape looks much better when it's running at the intended framerate, which is the cause of my happiness at the moment.

No sausage rolls can be a whole sausage (apart from if they're actually just sausage meat because Greggs is the bane of good taste), but it's entirely encapsulated within the pastry. Nothing sticking out of the ends.

Shit, SAO Abridged is actually really good. I just heard about it so I looked it up and it's gone very well compared to what little I've seen of the actual show. I mean, it has actual character arcs and meaningful development and stuff. It's nice. Actually worth completely fucking my sleep schedule over for.

Gave my lizard some lambs liver as a treat, and the little numpty let it get a bit dry before eating it so he had to tear sticky strips off it.

One gut stuck to the side of his mouth and he spent ages trying to lick it off and rubbing his face on a piece of wood. It was adorable.

I'm playing 40d to get reacquainted so I can teach my friend how to play.  He wants to play but the new versions are so fucked up that he got frustrated and quit.

Going back to basics, and damn, maybe I'll stay back here.  Remembering why I got into dorfs in the first place.

Things are simpler, everything works, your dwarves have skills and the equipment to go with them, enemies are enemies and friends are friends, caves have actual monsters in them that want to kill you instead of running away and crying.

Everything works.  As much as I miss being able to aim my shots, I miss everything actually working the way it's supposed to much more.  40d is like a cottage in the woods.  There's not much, but it's cozy and nostalgic.  The new versions are like a mansion that's only half built.  You can tell it'll be awesome in a few years but right now it's open to the elements, there's scaffolds everywhere, the doors and the roof are just tarps, it's a mess.
