So today we had some festivities for my dad's birthday, which was pretty neat and all, and i once more didn't end up vomiting or anything so that's cool too. The most important part, however, is that i happened to converse with a couple of the guests about my lack of study and general direction in life, and then they gave some very nice input: folk high school. Won't give me a degree, sure, but here's the thing: it can go on my CV, and there's a SCHOOL FOR GAME DESIGN. Given that i'd like to work with games (more specifically game graphics, but still), this could be a really cool thing. I know it's way too early to get hyped, but i haven't felt this kind of excitement for years!

therefore, i have spent the last couple of hours constructing a model of imperial citizens' likelihood to join the rebel alliance, which i will use as a basis for opposition to the implementation of death stars

the model turned out to be shit once i got a look at the data it was generating instead of just making sure it passed sanity checks

it's better now

building death stars increases the median imperial citizen's likelihood of joining the rebel alliance by nearly 10%!

Couldn't have gone better I tell you, actually got on the leaderboards for a bit before being taken out by another cell with a Chinese name pulling a spectacular manoeuvre on me, after realising I was cornered and only defended by the implicit threat of a green spike ball, he grew the spike ball to pop another much smaller cell just floating by the get rid of the spike balls and take me out at his/her leisure, I split back to basic size and barely got away, though was soon eaten, I'm not even mad, it was a great challenge.

So I took a vacation day today for my kid's endocrinology check-up.  Not much of a vacation (and this type of stuff is how the majority of my vacation days get used up).

And around 7 pm, I start getting texts from my boss about a hand carry (super high stakes urgent work situation), and they need my help.  And the timing of it has me staying up until like 2:30 am and getting up again around 6 am to monitor the situation.

But the good news is I was told I could have tomorrow off too, as a result of being called to work on a hand carry on my day off.  And this hand carry is stressful (due to the combination of high stakes and difficulty), but only a couple hours actual work.  So a net win!... so long as this shit doesn't fuck up, anyway.
