I've only ever had up to 75proof(vodka) before and I haven't drank enough to have a good tolerance so it should be good.

Are you sure that's not the alcohol percentage? Proof is 2x the alcohol percentage for reasons that probably made sense at one point. I've had wines at 50 proof.

i mean, not many to be sure

you need some pretty kickass yeast for that and even then usually have to fortify it with liquor

Why would you distill thrice when you could do twice for the same proof? I was told that 2 bottles were beside each other, same size & proof, different distill #(2&3) and price.

Yeah, the proof system originally had nothing to do with percentages. And the actual origin is much more awesome:

The term originated in the 16th century, when payments to British sailors included rations of rum. To ensure that the rum had not been watered down, it was "proved" by dousing gunpowder with it and then testing to see whether the gunpowder would ignite. If it did not, then the rum contained too much water and was considered to be "under proof". Gunpowder would not burn in rum that contained less than 57.15% ABV. Therefore, rum that contained this percentage of alcohol was defined to have "100° (one hundred degrees) proof". The gunpowder test was officially replaced by a specific-gravity test in 1816.

Yeah, 100 proof was literally defined as the proportion of alcohol needed to set gunpowder alight. Which is close to 4/7, who's inverse is 1.75. Therefore pure ethanol has 175 proof in England. The Americans then standardized their 100 proof = 50% ABV.

Re: strategy guides: I know pretty much every statistic to do with Age of Kings: The Conquerors. Including ones that aren't available in game, although that's not so much from the manual.

I don't know why, but I love that game so much.
