I'm pretty sure that my favorite thing about undertale is not only did they take MeGaLoVaNiA - one of the best songs in homestuck - and added it to this game, they also rerecorded it into a better version and matched it to one of the most intense boss fights in the entire game

This just reinforces my desire for both the game and the soundtrack...

to be fair you have to be a really despicable human being to see the boss fight
but not to watch the youtube videooooo~

I've realized that I can use a hash to convert the entire giant-ass input data string into a single number in a fixed amount of time.

Feels like I've discovered magic.

I'm pretty sure that would be impossible. DF is not good at imitating bullet hell. Like, at all.

Hashes rely on all the data, don't they? So they're O(n) in the size of the input, because they have to read each byte exactly once, if nothing else. Good hashes have really damn small overhead, though (to the point where, IIRC, they calculate the hash faster than the data needed to keep calculating can be read from disk).

It's "technically possible" in the same sense as "programming a ping-pong minigame" is technically a possible thing to do in Super Mario World. I.e. it would take more time than just going out and programming it directly in Pascal/C++.
