English is hilariously germanic, loan words don't really factor into that as much as structure

I wouldn't say English is "hilariously Germanic". Its heritage is mostly Germanic and at its core there's a lot more Germanic than Romance influence, but it's also substantially different from the mainland Germanic languages in a number of ways. You certainly wouldn't teach it as the archetypal Germanic language.

You're acting as if communication is a binary thing where you either can or can't. Communication is very finely gradated, and the ability to communicate in a language at a basic level is only enough, predictably, to accomplish basic tasks.

So it turns out, I have to learn how to do this by noon tomorrow.  The cool thing is I watched a single tutorial and successfully did it within my first few tries.  The not cool thing is a couple hours later, I'm still not getting consistent results.  I need to be able to stack 3, then 4, then 5 dice within a couple minutes.  My best so far is managing to stack 5 three times in a row.  And three is just pretty easy to do at this point.

Aaand I've got it down!  I can stack 3-4 almost every time.  I get maybe 1 of 3 attempts at stacking 5.  Totally ready for this.

I mean, it's a nifty physics trick but I don't see the real world application.

Are you me? I constantly catch myself thinking in English, and sometimes am more eloquent in it. I learned it at such a young age, it might be appropriate to call me bilingual rather than ESL, even though neither of my parents speak English to me.
