And wow, the soldier panicking and running straight up to the alien who killed his friend.  GG 10/10 accurate re-creation of TFTD.
I do really want to give it a go now.

I found it! It's funny how difficult it is to find music if you don't know the title, no matter how well you know the tune.

A Skype call somehow ended up turning into a Skype sleepover as we all crawled into our beds. We told spooky stories, played Five Nights at Freddy's sound effects at eachother, and eventually we even fell asleep and left the call going. Internet sleepovers should be a thing now.

I've had some DND sessions that were practically that.  Well, *one* of us kept falling asleep...  Amazing commitment, that guy.
They're playing today, but one of them linked this video first.  Some exorbitantly harmonic Mongolian music that made me happy:

(That wasn't sarcasm btw, the GM pushed himself to the absolute limit for us.  Main reason I hated to leave)

That sounds pretty dang heartwarming. Reminds me of the days when I had teen romance and whatnot. My girlfriend at the time and I would fall asleep with a call open and wake up the next morning to a 'good morning'. Which was nice.

... I'm pretty sure she used to spend hours listening to me sleep.

Whew, after a couple of weeks of incremental progress, I'm close to wrapping up the slimming down of my MtG card collection. White's down to singletons of each artwork, and the other colors are just a few mergesorts away from the same. Soon I'll be able to make my donation to the local game store, where they will hopefully find better caretakers.

... Huh. A lot of things I'm doing lately have involved getting rid of things. I dunno why. I like it though.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

More demoparties means more shiny new demos to watch! :D

In particular another great one by ASD, Monolith (best in fullscreen so their beautiful particle work isn't turned into potatoes by youtube): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFR-cJ4OM6M

If you find the right person, that kind of thing can make you feel safe instead of threatened.

...within reason.  Hours is a bit much.

That's why I wish for a transporter-style duplicate of myself :P
Someone I truly know and feel comfortable around.  Heck, I'd probably save money net due to reduced drinking.
I guess the same would be true if I fell in love with a real person, huh?  Ah well...
