Unless they were lying about the micro-transactions only unlocking things that you can already get more quickly for lazy people.
But I don't think they are lying. I am actually really excited for this game, despite never having finished a MGS game before (I got stuck halfway through MGS4 and had no idea what was going on anyway, so I gave up).
At first I was just hyped for the new Metal Gear Online, but then I watched a gameplay trailer for the single player and that's gonna be great, too.

This.^^ Kojima knows what the hell he's doing.

Someone doesn't understand how microtransactions work. If they are for useful items, the game is designed so that not paying becomes frustratingly slow. See: Facebook games. Most if not all of them.
