Well...definitely wait for some sign of commitment. A proposal would suffice.

I usually wait about... An hour? Give or take.

Yeah I am ashamed to say I usually give it up on the first date.
Which makes it sound terrible without the caveat of how few first dates I have been on, and the success rates of those dates blossoming into decent relationships.

I'm asexual so I've never done dating anyway, but I don't understand how anyone could have the patience to wait if they cared about so-called canoodling that much. I give up on a stool after around 10 minutes, I don't think I'd ever have the patience to create commitment.

Why wait? Nonsense.

I don't understand how anyone could have the patience to wait if they cared about so-called canoodling that much.

It's the two seperate schools of thought amongst those who believe 'Canoodling' is an incredibly intimate and vulnerable experience.
So either
a) save it for someone you want to be with for the rest of your life, that you do not allow the many strangers and exes 'along the way' to know your body so.
or
b) abuse it in order to find out someone's quirks early on in the relationship. 'Cos nothing reveals a controlling personality like a mid-coital haranguing.

Edit: Which doesn't answer your not-really question. The real answer is, it's not about patience, it's about proving how much you care by showing how long you're willing to wait. [F**cking cosmo]
So basically sit and stay, or you'll never get the proverbial squeaky toy.

...and some people think of certain things differently than you and not everyone who does so is somehow evil?

Yeah, plus that.
Lots of people think many things differently to me. 'S part of the wide and wonderful world we live in.
I personally stand by the mid-coital haranguing, but I imagine if I met one of my 200-300 soulmates, and they wanted to wait until marriage, I would happily go along with it.
Ok... Grudgingly go along with it. I personally do not enjoy the idea of entering into a lifelong commitment with someone before knowing whether or not we're 'compatible'.

Just saying, do not expect all of the answers from someone who references f**king cosmo.

If someone I was with refrenced Cosmo I'd have a hard time not doing an exterminatus impression. That magazine is so full of shit, some of it is dangerous too.

I refer to it in the manner of which I do for a reason.
Despite my hatred, it does contain the opinions of the stupid majority.
