I finally got around to watching Fairy Tail. Looks to be a fairly standard shounen anime, but it also looks absurdly fun. And it's battle music just makes me so very happy.

Also, this thread got a little weird for a while.

What's wrong with using magma? That's almost always the easiest method.
I have issues channeling it properly to do that method. I end up flooding the fortress with magma.

I walked to the brewery.  Successfully navigated 1-2 conversations with three separate people.  Actually enjoyed watching televised sports, briefly.  Had a nice sandwich and a delicious local beer.  Observed beautiful post-sunset cloudy sky on walk back.

Sleepy as all get out, but self-image issues receding somewhat.

Also I still love Worldmaster27's avatar, I have got to check out that comic it's from.  Even though the premise was spoiled and it sounds really dark at places.  Heck, because of that.

I need to catch up on Prequel sometime. Is Katia still the buttmonkey of the universe? That's a rhetorical question, don't spoil it for me. Of course she is.

She's slightly less now, actually. But yes, pretty much.

It seems like it's always "slightly less" until it goes back to the same old same old, and then becomes slightly less again.

Well she has learnt short range telekinesis, and is also capable of fighting quite impressive creatures, and winning.

Super Metroid is weird.

For example, in my studies of the highly arcane 8 bits that are the samus state flags, I discovered that damage boosting is a special state recognized by the game and thus likely intended by the developers.

Ain't that something.

It really is.  Based on how well *most* of the supposedly sequence-breaking tricks work (with the exception of the crashed ship) I've kinda wondered how many of the tricks were fully unintended.  Particularly in episodes after Super Metroid where it mostly began.

Though then Metroid Fusion has that intentional, almost obvious "exploit" with shinesparking which triggers a bonus dialog.  Which suggests that the other exploits might have been accidental.

Metroid programming team: Idiots or geniuses?  Perhaps just wonderful.

Gaia damn Other M I hate it so much.

They ain't stupid. People underestimate developers all the damn time. Super Metroid has some of the best game design in history. Yoshio Sakamoto (director of Super Metroid... and Other M, oh my) just sorta got weird. The exact same thing happened with Masahiro Sakurai, in fact. Melee was not an accident. They knew Sheik was incredible in 1v1. They knew Fox was incredible in 1v1 and that Falco would be too. Falco's trophy explicitly mentioned his reflector's speed and combo power. Sakurai just sorta got weird and made Brawl.
