It's my parents' 25th anniversary. The celebration was really modest: my parents, my brother and I, my grandmother and her life partner all simply raised a glass of champagne or fancy soda, and reminisced. Who needs a huge party?

My brother, who's a fricken fanatic for Supreme Commander, keeps trying to get me to play it again. 

We were talking about it and we started talking about mods.  I remembered something I made years ago, a mod with a bubble shield that had something like a 5 kilometer radius and huge health, and my brother made a map where both teams had a circular base with the shield in the middle.  It worked from a gameplay perspective but the game was coded so that when you zoomed out it stopped rendering shields even though this one should have been visible from space.  I wondered about how many downloads it must have gotten, since the GPG website went down when they went out of business.  My guess was four.  According to him, it was actually a few thousand downloads; people (including him) would download it and play it once or twice with their friends and then forget about it.

Looks like Master of Orion's getting a reboot by the same guys that made World of Tanks. Now I want to get back to playing that game, and build a few doom stars and blow up some planets; that or take down a titan-class ship with legions of thousands of tiny fighters.

Whoops. Didn't realize it was posted earlier. Oh well...

MOO is a pretty fun 4x space game since the classic DOS era. 1 and 2 were awesome, and heard that 3 might as well be an Excel spreadsheet made into a game (like Starcon 3, it doesn't exist).
