I found fairy tale compendiums! In really tasteful editions, even! They were in the library all along! Now I have:

1. Georgian fairy tales
2. Abkhaz fairy tales
3. Generic Russian fairy tales
4. The Kalevala
5. Some really old (like, pre-Revolutionary) German fairy tale book, in flowery Gothic script. In German, which I can't really read yet.

in addition to the previously discovered:

1. "Tales of the Tersky coast", Pomor and Northern Russian fairy tales
2. "The Most Important Things", the fairy tales of assorted Caucasus peoples

1917. I sometimes forget there were others.
My scanner isn't working, so I'll try to take some legible photos when I get home. It might not actually be fairy tales - I didn't really get a good look at it before I had to go. Well, anyway, it's old.

A squadron of 4 or 5 A-10s just flew overhead to-and-from KSC. I wonder what's going on around these parts? I'll keep an eye out for anything anomalous in the skies. I mean, if tank killers are flying about these parts, what's going on?

Nonetheless, they looked pretty awesome, since they were flying rather low.

what looked like a bomber (probably just a transport plane) flew over my house so close i could read the US air force name on its wings many years ago. it was certainly cool

I used to go stay with family near Lincolnshire, and they were near an RAF base that flew fighters around a bunch. They're loud. Also they had a Lancaster Bomber going around in the months leading up to Price William's wedding, so that was interesting.

Back a couple years ago a pair of A-10s would pass right above our house every Wednesday.  Most of the time it happened while I was in school, but on days when I was home or when it was summer I could watch them. They stopped about a year or two before we moved.  Now, we get a flight of Apache helicopters once or twice a year.

Spoiler: As awesome as the A-10s were, it still doesn't beat seeing this fly by. And just as visible (maybe even 1:1 in scale above the water) as the picture shows, it was that close/low-flying, even I could see the individual windows of the shuttle (Atlantis, not Discovery). (click to show/hide)

It was flying so low, you could swear the engines would clip the roof of the houses it was passing over (moreso, a nearby condo).

It was so loud, the windows shook when it passed by. I thought a meteor was about to hit.

There's an army base not tremendously far from where I live. Sometimes you see a truck with a couple of soldiers in it go past. Then we make jokes about how the entire army is being deployed to rescue someone's sheep, or something equally silly.
