In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Ah, okay. Somewhat similar to mine then, though I've been a brown and now black belt for so long I can't remember how much time it takes for students to transfer between belts now.

My mom's finally started quitting smoking. Granted, she's "quit smoking" several times now, but hopefully this time it'll stick.

In other happy news, I've rebooted my German Duolingo course. I've figured out the secret to getting through Duolingo: let Duolingo deal with the grammar; use Anki for the vocabulary. All new words now go into an Anki deck. I think I've got like six of them I do now...

Its just that bad breakdown happened and then in keeping myself together, I usually go into a somewhat covert mode which really makes my face all flat and emotionless.
Then I got a hug o-o
So yeah. Bad memories from the past = D: countered by hug and care = :)
