Vroom vroom!
It'll be pretty cool when it's finished. Maybe it'll spur some actual interest in solar power as something not incredibly niche.

Trucks have the bonus advantage of working in inclement weather. And at night.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

That has batteries to work at night, charged during the day.

But could you outrun it in circumnavigating the Earth?

What if it's raining, and the batteries can't be charged?

I can outrun it in a jet.

Hell, I could outrun it in a traditional propellorered aeroplane.

If your jet can get around the entire planet without needing to refuel then that's pretty impressive.

I was disappointed to see that it wouldn't be doing it in one go. Doing short hops over five months is way less impressive then just flying all the way around the world. Maybe the next solar plane...

It looks like most of the problem is with pilots. You can't have one person sit cramped up there for weeks. Now if it were remotely controlled you could switch pilots without having to land...

Nah, nuclear fission is clearly superior.

spring break motherfuckeeeeers!

i've already broken into the alcohol once this week, which lead to a pretty funny chat with objective which will hopefully never see the light of day. Highlights include me telling him four times that i was gonna go, and them coming back and talking to him some more.

It's gonna be a good week~

Probably, assuming I had a boat to go over the ocean with. 5 months is a hell of a long time to take to circumnavigate the world in an era where jets can cross the Pacific in less than a day.

Oh, shit, that reminds me! I have a double-sized bottle of white port, three homework assignments I want to wrap up tonight, and my night class was cancelled. Let's get this shit on the road.

EDIT: Ice cream and alcohol - could there be a better dinner?

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
