I have what amounts to half an afro. A halfro? It's not 70s-style big, but I have the most of it among the guys I see--heck, I have more than some of the girls.

My mom, of course, seems to think it's her hair, because she insists on cutting it about once a day and runs her hands through it after I take showers.

Can I be honorary? I used to have small-of-the-back length hair and right now my hair looks like a (short) lions mane. >_>

I gotta say, I don't miss the long hair at all. I'm at a happy medium, just barely enough to pull back into a little spike high on the back of my head with maybe an inch past the band, and likewise enough to fall well short of my shoulders. Haircuts are the easiest thing in the world when they literally consist of "Get scissors, put up with second band ~1in farther down, cut off excess past second band, and it don't look half bad to boot.

Huh. It's rather tame compared to a lot of the Google Images results, but that's definitely it.

Funny thing is, I don't think there's anybody Jewish in my family.

It started out as a word to describe a hair type found in Ashkenazi Jews, but now it pretty much refers to any quasi-afro style for non-black people (due to the "proper" afro relying on a specific hair type).

Hair cuts are great. You live in California so you may never get this opportunity, Vector, but if you're ever somewhere with a reasonable temperature you should try going outside with wet hair so that it freezes. I imagine it would only lead to nightmares with long hair, but when it's nice and short, it's most refreshing.

Getting thousands of dollars in back-pay is also good. Almost as good as haircuts.

Having frozen long hair sucks. I accidentally did it last week, and it makes it tangle up really badly and is mildly uncomfortable.

Oh ye gods, I remember the days of frozen long hair.  Used to have hair that went past my shoulders back in high school and basically rushed to school as soon as I was done with my shower.  15 degree (Fahrenheit) weather and wet hair doesn't mix at all, man.

EDIT: Somehow I forgot what this thread is actually about, what with the happies and whatnot.  Currently listening to the Drakengard 3 Boss Battle songs, and I have a new avatar, feelin' pretty good right now.
