I also don't think I have that much RAM. Or hard drive space. Or that good a video card.
Apart from the water and the snow (and obviously lots of the armor and shit), that's almost entirely vanilla graphics on ~medium to medium-high. It really was gorgeous for the time, and it's held up surprisingly well. The sort of thing you can get with a super-computer and the right ENBs and associated stuff is downright scary.

Seriously, that bow is the best thing I ever enchanted. Soul trap for one second on hit means approximately ten fucktillion charges, the Black Star means instant refill whenever I need it, and mods+being a sneaky sneak means that most of what I hit dies instantly anyways (if I can reach a sleeping dragon, I can one-shot it with a dagger -- the tradeoff is that I
also die in 1-3 hits from anything leveled appropriately). But yeah, I still don't bother using most enchanted weapons because I don't want to need to swap to bow every six guys to grab another soul.

Skyrim seems perfectly designed to prevent players from actually doing anything in the game.

The really beautiful part is that you're right. Except that if you actually want to ever get anything done, you need to resist that urge to follow every shiny thing you see. Nothing that I killed there was a challenge, and none of it had worthwhile loot.
I still laughed the entire time and had to burn spells and potions to carry ~500 weight of loot back to carefully sort in my house.
