I've been meaning to keep this a secret until atleast two weeks have passed since I didn't want to jinx it, but I have something of an exercise regiment going on.

I wanted to make it as relaxed and unintimidating as possible, so I wanted to make it extremely easy, but still scaling up to provide an increase in challenge over time.

I set it so that now, every day, if I just want to fuck around on the computer or whatever, I have to 'earn it'. I earn it by doing pushups:

1 pushup = 360 seconds/6 minutes of fuckin around time.

This translates very cleanly into 10 pushups = 1 hour. There's an egg timer program that I've been using to show how much free time I've earned and it counts it down.

Everyday, I reduce the amount earned per pushup by 1 second. So the first day afterwards, each pushup only gives 359 seconds, and the second day after gives 358, and so on. This involves alot of calculating in my head, but I've been managing.

I haven't decided what I'll do after day 330+, since that'll mean large amount of exercising for very little rewards, but I'm hoping that I'll be buff enough by then that it'll be easy.

I've also allowed myself an OUT for the exercise, in any odd case where I can't muster up the motivation no matter how hard I try, which is more often than I like to admit, by giving myself a secondary exchange rate of placing 1 dollar into a savings jar for 1 hour. Good news is that it's day 15 and I only have about ten dollars in there. So there's that.

The increase in physical activity though, I still feel has dug up alot of feelings that are badly discouraging. Even though I've been keeping it up, I'm just so afraid to jinx it somehow. I'm currently on day 15, and still don't have my hair cut and I'm a shitty shaggy slob, but now I have to put myself to bed for work.

Good night everyone.

EDIT: Fuck me, starting nearly every sentence with "I" just looks awful and I hate it.

For a timer kind of thing like that I would usually do the lazy approach and have an excel document do some level of automation with it.

Like =360-(TODAY()-(STARTINGDAY)) = (REDUCED TIME)  //Wouldn't hurt to have these values in plain sight either.
So, for example: On Day-0, 360 - (1/1/15 - 1/1/15) = 360 or 360 - (1/5/15 - 1/15/15) = 350
In another cell, you can also =CONVERT((REDUCED TIME),SECOND,MINUTE) to reduce the hassle of calculating it. And in other cells, you can set benchmarks from there (10 push-ups to 50 * (REDUCED TIME)), and even have a converter for how long you want to spend, and have it auto-calculate how many you'll need to do to reach it.

I've done something somewhat similar with my freelancing; giving myself benchmarks as to how much I would feel comfortable working to earn both time and money. Considering my overall laziness; I won't want to work all the time, so I'll calculate how much I would feel comfortable earning as to not worry anymore (minimum being enough to pay the bills and to eat), and do the rest from there. Actually makes time management more fun; provided I don't waste all that time adding onto the calculator.

EDIT:
Corrected a miscalculaton.

EDIT EDIT:
Nevermind. I had it right before. :P

EDIT EDIT EDIT:
Additional happy, since I mentioned my freelancing. I think I have a monthly recurring client now. HUZZAH! Not the most generous payout, relatively speaking, but every little bit stacks up. Plus, I'm not needed for that job for long anyhow, and given the time it costs (by the amount I charge per-hour), the payout is actually worth it. Plus, it's a simple enough job that I don't need to fry my brain working on it (also fitting within the tight timeframe is pretty easy). Additionally, the client's actually pretty cool, and helpful and patient. More like this would be appreciated.

EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT:
Just got an invite for another job that sounds somewhat similar. Neat. Now let's hope I beat out everyone else applying for it.

Why not make your pushup cheapening factor into an exponential curve?
Standard fit would be (completely arbitrary and made up number) two sets of thirty, twice a day.
So you could doctor the bottom of your curve to be about 120 pushups for a day of gaming- and that should sort it.

(Also try to make sure you don't focus all on the one thing. After you've got a bit on pushups you'll need to start on chin/pull ups (Don't be ashamed if you start at less than 1. They're completely different muscles and we SERIOUSLY don't use them much nowadays.) But obviously finding a bar 'around the house' is an issue.
Plus ab flexes are pretty easily done whilst lying in bed. Just gotta lift your feet to about 6 inches off the bed whilst on your back, and see how long you can keep them there.
Easymode is doing it with your hands under your butt, hardmode is doing it with your blankets on.

It rained yesterday (which is always nice) and now today, with the sky newly washed and everything still a teensy bit damp, it's a really gorgeous day outside.

The skies around LA tend to be a bit desaturated, which you tend not to notice, but then it rains and pulls all the smog out and suddenly it's really REALLY blue.

I went to the zoo today with my girlfriend and her baby brother... It was nice. Some animals were missing because of the snow, but otherwise it was great!

Making monsters for Don't Rest Your Head is great fun because it's a combination of coming up with puns and nightmarish descriptions, so it's like two of my favorite creative activities rolled into one.
Here's an example: Heroines, Victorian waifs with heroin-filled syringes for fingers that think they're doing you a favor by chasing you down, beating you up, then injecting you with a horrifically addictive version of heroin that turns you into a literal Junkie, as you have to replace the parts of your body that rot off with any pieces of crap you can find on the street.
...
Hm, perhaps this would be better suited for the Terrified thread. Nah.

I cut my finger! Wait, why is that a happy?

It's because I was flailing at my guitar in a way that made somewhat pleasing noises sometimes.

Step 1: Make pasta
Step 2: Stir in mashed potatoes
Step 3: Reflect on the beauty of this world we live in.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.
