Obama announced he wants to make the first 2 years of community college free! :o please pass! don't you block this Republicans!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-QDfEMXAgk
Holy shit Obama actually tries to do something significant in policy?
But yeah that's gonna get blocked so hard, because if there's anything I've learned about American politics it's that nothing can happen because people are dicks.

I'd love for that to pass, too, but I know it won't.

the fact that you're controlling a multi-ton metallic object hurtling at absurd speeds mere inches away from other multi-ton metallic objects that are hurtling at insane speeds in the opposite direction.
This is why driving scares the shit out of me.

And that's why I don't want a drivers licence ladies and mentlegen, I don't want to be that douchbag who causes a head on collision because he was changing the radio station.
I feel the more rules something has, the more inherently dangerous it is at all times, and that is especially true with cars.

That's fantastic.

...

If you're mere inches away then you're driving badly and you should be scared. Aim for a couple of metres and you're all good.

It really isn't scary at all, once you get used to it.

Except for when I accidentally found myself on an inter-state highway and had to drive at 80 mph (because driving slowly on major roadways is actually more dangerous than driving the limit, because it's safer if you're matching the other drivers going the same direction as you in terms of speed) and I simply wasn't adjusted to the sheer speed involved.

But no, driving eventually becomes tedious to you.

(But then again, don't take my word for safe driving, because I've fallen asleep while driving multiple times because I wasn't getting any rest between people's constant need for rides everywhere before.)

My mother gave me sage advice and I was fine driving after that.
Basically it was 'road rules exist to stop any of that happening. Your lane is yours, and the entire lane is yours. As long as you stay in it, and obey all of the road rules, nothing can happen to you'.

Not entirely true, but I'll admit, it does reduce the chances of a road accident about 3000%.

Hey, just because vehicular accidents kill as many people as the holocaust on average every 5 years doesn't make it scary.

Hahahaha, oh wait, of course it does.

I'm usually driving around in the weight equivalent of 25 or so cars, with comparatively fewer safety features, and I somehow manage to do this every day just fine :P

But yeah, he's not up for re-election and has by all appearances stopped having shits to give about trying to convince the Right to not steal the collectively-bought football and take it home.

@Mastah: in upstate New York, there was a highway that we took frequently where the flow of traffic was faster than my ex's car could go (everyone knows where the speed traps are on 81. They haven't moved in 15 years, from what I'm told.) It was a BMW. That particular car maxes out at 128mph.

Note: That was a lot of work on my phone.
