Make sure not to spoil yourself accidentally before you do, it's a hell of a ride.

Literally all I know about is:
a) It's about human modification and hacking
b) It gets a mention in Uplink

Here's a c): The guys who made Shadowrun pretty much ripped off Gibson wholesale and then didn't credit him. Neuromancer is at least as important as Blade Runner to developing cyberpunk into what it is.

Ah, I was reminded of a blog that had nearly slipped from my memory today via a link to one of the best articles on it, a juicy bit regarding FOOF.

I still love that blog.  My favorite is still his article on chlorine trifluoride, for the pithy quote from Ignition.

So the lesson I learned from reading the entire Things I Won't Work With section is that the guy hates chemicals with multiple Nitrogens with a passion. Some lazy googling shows a benzene ring to be approximately 300 picometres across. So yes that would be unpleasant.

Ugh. I remember Chem class in high school. Interesting, but a challenge to take on.

Wasn't much a fan of mapping chemical bonds; regardless my progress in Spacechem eons later.

I had a harder time with the technical part of that class, rather than the practical part. I had fun with that. I understood the material, I just hated jotting it down (unlike nowadays, my memory was crap back then).
