In reality, everyone has unique preferences, but broad categories come into use from shorthand descriptions of preferences that share the same general characteristics. Everyone is essentially "nonconforming" when it comes to strict "box" definitions, so if you'd rather not put people into boxes it might be better to just list preferences directly, DF style.

Or, perhaps it's better to say everyone is their own little box.

I already tried, but "pansexual homoromantic furry" is a lot longer and still doen't fill the nuances of my sexuality. So basically "sexuality nonconforming" is my way of saying "I like who I like and it really shouldn't matter to you anyway. What, are you trying to get in my pants or something?"

Or, to put things more crudely but also more accurately: Humans enjoy sex, except when they don't. Who or what they prefer to fuck varies among individuals. They also enjoy nonsexual romantic relationships, except when they don't. Who or what they prefer to engage in nonsexual romantic relationships with varies among individuals and is not necessarily tied to the previous point.

Honestly, this is why I've got such an issue with both sides of the whole gender-sex-blah blah kerfluffle, because I don't particularly care about boxes except insofar as that they're useful descriptors for general population trends, research, &c. and that's not how they're ever bloody used by anyone who makes a big deal over it, but rather as the basis for hatred and aggression. As long as whoever you're fucking is capable of consenting, consents, and &c., I don't care and don't particularly want to hear about the details when it's not pertinent.
