One of my favourites is the one that shakes soup. The idea of that being a propulsion system gives me a giggl.

Robot Wars was canned by the BBC due to spiralling costs, safety issues, the lack of a venue, and commercial constraints.

Pssh, it was perfectly safe. Apart from the bits that weren't but nobody would have died probably.

Both got cancelled for reasons. Though bot combat still goes on, it's much more low key then the glamorous spectacles of the early 2000's

Oh how I miss the olden days of battle bots and robot wars

As an ex competitor in Robot Wars, I miss it more...

3 horrible accidents spring to mind - one involving a pneumatically driven steel spike of 4 ft length randomly going off, one involving a 100 kg robot falling from a table with motors on full going for an unsupervised spin, and one involving a CO₂ cylider venting and missiling accross the pits at 4 ins above the floor.
