If my college intro-to-sociology class has taught me anything, it's this: Most people will deliberately ignore deviations form the norm, like a person going to class with a post-it note stuck to their forehead, because it's "weird". I walked to sociology class once wearing only* a towel. Got tons of stares, but very few people actually verbally recognizing my attire. Coincidentally I got a 98 on the sociology paper I wrote about that.

Anyway, moral of the story is that all the lack of reaction you got seems reasonable. Still was a good effort though brah.

Played a game of IRL Mafia today. One person kind of ruined the first round, but the second was great. I was a cop and I survived until the end, even after roleclaiming in the second day. (Game started with night.) I even almost got NK'ed and got saved by the doctor. Won a $5 Starbucks card out of it. It was pretty sweet.

My original plan was to write "Something" on it, and then when people laugh/smile/boggle/whatever, say, "What? Do I have 'Something' on my face?" And then cut to the title sequence.

I ended up rejecting that as too cheesy.

Why would they ban Python? It's a really good language for the kind of problem solving they normally put in olympiads, in my experience. The only possible issue is performance, surely?

Java's not that scary though. I'm sure you can pick it up pretty quickly. C++ is a bit more vicious.

Because those are the only allowed languages for the international olympiad, I assume. I guess the international one is older than Python or something.
