If you ever want to move to france just remember that, IIRC, there's been pretty long-standing racism against muslims there for a while, and some people (i'd say about as big as the ratio of racist people here) are really bitter about muslim immigration.

That's indicative of bad infrastructure. You can't hand guns to your police willy-nilly without giving them some kind of training first. That's just begging for someone to do something stupid.

In an ideal world, cops would automatically know what to do as soon as one of those situations popped up. Unfortunately, it's not something you can really train for, only experience can help you deal with that, what with all the blood flowing and adrenaline and what-not.

Anyway, this is way too heavy for the happy thread, I apologize for piling on to the argument.
