So, big job interview today for promotion/headhunted position.

I fucking aced every aspect. My lecture to some second years was perfect. The inbox activity was easy - I spotted all the traps and hit the button with every task. I reduced the student interview panel to tears of laughter. The staff interview panel went perfectly, with my answers pre-empting subsequent questions, and leaving the head governor speechless when she asked me about how I cope with pressure situations.

They offered me the post, but with terms unfavourable compared to my current ones in terms of pay and hours. They then crawled up my ass about how much they wanted me to take the job, despite the frankly shit conditions of the labs and facilities compared to where I currently am, and students that do not compare to the ones I currently teach.

... and I took huge amounts of pleasure in turning them down before walking out. Fuck, it felt so good, and I have never loved my job as much as I do now, having compared what I have to what is out there.

That's age discrimination! If you ask me, the real question is how much somebody has contributed, not how long they've been on the forum-- GWG could count, some random upperboarder who joined in '07 wouldn't, even if he had posted the most badass story in game history. KosS is in it, anyway, and he's only been on a third of a year more than I have and has a third of my postcount, albeit with heavy influence, as well. We both get regular 9/10s in the HWKitUAY thread.

In any case, how many regularly active wizards are there, precisely?

Yeah, there's some sparse bits of sanity around the time I showed.

Oh you see I was talking about contributing to the community. There are those who have left their mark on Bay12 forever more and most importantly made the community genuinely be better. You might not know them since you only joined in the past year and some are not as active as they once were, but they are still fresh in the minds of us old timers. Either way Maximum Zero for example is a prominent and still active case of someone who has done both and is known to be a genuine badass in real life and in meme.


...also GWG should not be allowed in by virtue of being someone who should not be glorified by any means. He's a cautionary tale, not a titan. Not to mention he never really felt like a full on part of the board culture since he eventually stopped venturing out of FG&RP and distanced himself from anything he considered silly.

...we're kinda wasting time and resources right now, so I'm going to end it on the note that I think I have made, at the very least, a decent-sized impression on the board. Even if I abruptly stopped using Bay12, I think at least some people would mention something about "that wizard guy" every now and again.
