Remembering that I have the Umineko soundtrack (or at least, what shipped with the game) has added several hours to my playlist, although it's still only a weaksauce 2 days and 11 hours long.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Speak for thineself.

>:D

Well, I DO want to see a grizzly bear poking competition... now we just need to chain a bear cub up in the middle of a 100m diameter pen, release some stupid bastards and its mother into the pen at the same time with orders to run up and pet or poke the cub and run like fuck. Anyone that makes it back alive after poking the cub gets a cookie. Two cookies if you poke mom. 4 if both.

The most adorable thing in the world is not a puppy, or a kitten, or a baby bird, but rather a Diplomacy player who truly believes that alliances are sacred and should not be broken.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

Alfie Boe as Valjean... how is it possible for so much awesome to be in one persons voice?

What is better than one Valjean? Four!

Right in the feels....

Is that a variant of Mafia?

EDIT: Okay apparently not.

I'm Austria, he's Italy. Early on we declare a non-aggression pact which he takes for an alliance. He leaves an army in Venice while I vacate Trieste. After two turns in which he didn't make a jump for Trieste, I decided he was probably too trusting for his own good.

I was right: this spring I asked him for a pre-arranged standoff in Greece from the Ionian Sea, which was the only unit within two moves of Venice. He played along; and I moved Vienna to Tyrolia and can take Venice with no reprisals this fall. He started blustering to me about how it was an alliance and how alliances are sacred and how we were in it until the end. (Word of caution: Italy and Austria are doomed to suspicion and mistrust by the geography of the game; neither can win without devouring the other...)

He's an entirely honest and ethical man. Also a very bad Diplomacy player.

Just reread A Tale of an Industrious Rogue

Of all the D&D stories I've read, it's probably my favourite.

That would be the salt and... uh other pursuits... one? If so, yeah it is bloody great :p
